History of Ascent

1998

Phil Horstmann launches Ascent to help customers manage and maintain mission critical equipment.

1999

Robert Painter, currently President and co-owner of Ascent, joins the team in an engineering and construction management role.

2000

Jamie Lester, currently Vice President of Finance and co-owner of Ascent, joins the team in an accounting and administration role.

Ascent introduces Engineering, Project Management and Construction services to support customer demand.

2002

Engineering and data center site staffing services bring 25 new positions to the Ascent team.

2003

Ascent goes global with data center & site operation services.

Ascent adds another 19 positions with IT specialists and data center maintenance personnel.

2004

Ascent Operations Center opens and supports 24x7 work ticketing for customers.

2005

Brad Pauley, currently Vice President of Engineering & Construction and co-owner of Ascent, joins the team in an engineering and construction management role.

2006

Ascent starts its wholesale data center development program.

2007

Global Cloud Services Provider selects Northlake project, becomes one of the world’s largest data centers.

Ascent grows its in-house construction management team

2009

Ascent announces plans for second Chicago wholesale data center development (CH2 Data Center).

2010

Illinois Chamber and Illinois Development Council award Ascent with Edie Award

Ascent raises substantial equity to fund CH2 Data Center

Large-scale customer selects Ascent to support its national critical infrastructure operations

2011

Comcast Goes Live at CH2.

Ascent adds 23 positions to support national critical facility management and maintenance programs.

2012

Ascent opens new headquarters in St. Louis.

Ascent named Top Workplace and among Top 10 Private Business Job Creators within Missouri.

Growth in development activities and critical facility operations brings an additional 33 positions to the Ascent team

2013

Ascent named Top Workplace for second consecutive year

2014
