Leadership Perspectives: 25 Years with Jamie Lester

Jamie Lester 25 Years

It is hard to believe that Ascent is already at the 25-year mark!  It is humbling for me to think back on those years, and to think about all that we have been able to accomplish with the help of our staff, our leadership, and our amazing customers.  We have truly come a long way since taking over the management of a portfolio of data centers here in St. Louis in the late 1990’s.

As I reflect back, I wanted to share some thoughts about the mission critical services from a financial perspective. Data centers are electrical and mechanical engineering marvels. They’re constructed under a great deal of pressure by some of the most sophisticated engineering and project management teams and operated by talented and highly trained personnel. Improving data center design, build and operational budgets have always been an area of focus for Ascent since day one.

For me, I’ve always felt that finances needed to come first in mission critical services– and luckily for Ascent, more than a few clients agreed.  One of the ways we achieve this is through our Navigator Platform, which gives clients real-time visibility into their data centers and critical facility operations. We’ve developed the Navigator Platform to provide customized data across diverse critical sites, design topologies and work management systems. The platform can be customized to the business’s technical and financial requirements.

Once implemented, the Navigator platform allows the Ascent team to oversee business intelligence so that our customers can focus on their core business. The result is a critical facility management solution with incremental long-term value that keeps the financial side of mission critical in the forefront.

We pride ourselves on our ability to improve our clients’ critical facility reliability, always seeking to find customer cost savings and to implement value-added strategies to our clients’ operations.  It is because of this finances-first perspective, I think, that we are celebrating our 25th anniversary.

As I look ahead to the future, I see a continued focus on greener and more efficient data centers along with emphasis on financial analysis, forecasting and cost savings.  The Ascent team with its Navigator Platform will be there to help its customers achieve their goals.
